Homestead Helper was founded to empower people to live a more sustainable lifestyle, connect with nature, and increase their families food security. Whether it's building a chicken coop, planting rows of vegetables, or harvesting honey for our customers we strive to further the causes of sustainability and healthy living one yard at a time!
I am the founder of Bryan's Bees and Homestead Helper! In 2008 I attended CSU Channel Islands where I studied entomology and ecology, while working in the CSU Channel Islands Pollination Ecology Lab. It was there that I fell in love with honey bees and beekeeping. In 2012, I bought his first five packages of bees, and Bryan’s Bees was born. After ending his internship at CSUCI he worked at Associate's Insectary raising beneficial insects, Jubilee Honey Company as a commercial beekeeper, and Terminix as a pest control technician.
At Bryan's Bees we created a Backyard Beekeeping program, and we found that our clients wanted a LOT more than just bees. To expand our program to utilize all our skills including Aquaponics and Chickens, we created Your Homestead Helper.
Robert is our founder and resident Plant expert. Passionate about food, sustainability, and making a positive impact on the world, Rob has been a plant, animal, and health connoisseur as long as we can all remember. Before Homestead Helper, he grew up in Central California in an agricultural community spending much of his time among the local orchards and farms. He graduated from CSU Channel Islands with a degree in Biology emphasizing Ecology where he researched our local ecosystems and pollinators. Since then Rob has become a passionate member of the Ventura County Garden Club, the Homesteading Club, and has helped hundreds of people across California explore their passion for gardening, and establish their dream homestead.
